10 Great Reasons for a Holiday in Cyprus
Here are are 10 tips and reasons to visit Cyprus to help start your holiday planning and further research together with some "lifestage" destination recommendations to check out.
Beaches: From gently-shelving white sand beaches in the east around Ayia Napa and Protaras to fun-filled bays with water-skiing and kite-surfing in the west, you will find everything from deserted coves to busy holiday resorts.
Nightlife: Dance the night away in one of Ayia Napa's trendy clubs or hang out on Bar Street in Paphos. Away from the neon, join in the Greek dancing at a local taverna or chill in a café on Larnaca's fashionable mile-long beachfront promenade.
Food: Cypriots are happiest when eating so join them for a meze, a slow banquet of Cypriot delicacies such as grilled halloumi cheese, dolmades (vine leaves stuffed with rice and meat) and delicious kleftiko, lamb slowly baked till it drops off the bone. Freshly-caught fish and seafood are delicacies too.
Wine: Drive into the Troodos foothills to taste crisp white wines and hearty reds at family-run wineries. Follow a wine route or check out the island's long wine-making heritage at the Wine Museum just outside Limassol.
Art: Watch local artisans at work in their workshops in Larnaca, producing beautifully-crafted ceramics, tiles and jewellery. Lefkara is the place to buy hand-crafted lace - see the ladies dressed in black ply their craft outside their shops.
Cities: Visit Europe's last divided capital, Lefkosia (Nicosia) for shopping and museums. Wander Laiki Geitonia's narrow streets, sweat in a restored Ottoman hamam and stroll along Venetian city walls for great views. You'll find Richard the Lionheart's Crusader castle in Limassol old town.
Nature: The stunning Troodos mountains with Mount Olympus at its peak offers a cool retreat in summer with its charming hilltop villages, vine-blessed slopes and hiking trails. For unspoilt nature, the rugged Akamas national park is stunning.
History: Venetian walls, Crusader castles, ancient tombs and Roman mosaics are testament to Cyprus's 10,000 year history. The Green Line in Nicosia separating the Greek south from Turkish north, now open to tourists, is a reminder of its recent political past.
Shopping: From big city stores in Nicosia to designer boutiques and jewellers in Limassol, you'll find shops selling souvenirs to take home all over the island. The markets in Limassol and Paphos are worth checking out too.
Touring: Cypriots drive on the left and the roads are fast and well signposted so getting around by car is easy. A jeep safari is the best way to go off-road and explore remote Akamas or mountainous Troodos. Car rental in Cyprus is reasonably priced, and easy to arrange.
A holiday in Cyprus is up there with the best of travel destinations in terms of great climate, friendly people, history, adventure and good living.

Top 5 Visitor Attractions in Cyprus
1. Shipwrecks of Cyprus
There are a number of shipwrecked boats lying on the ocean floor just off the coast of Cyprus that are sure to be of interest to both beginner and experienced divers. These shipwrecks include yachts, freighters, smaller boats and even a large car ferry that recently sunk while it was traveling to Cyprus.
2. Roman Ruins
Of course, no visit to Cyprus would be complete without visiting the many historical sites located on Cyprus that remain on the island from the days of the ancient Roman Empire. Some of the most famous Roman structures and ruins on Cyprus include the Odeon amphitheatre, the House of Dionysus and the various ancient Roman homes that line Cyprus's harbours.
3. Pathos Lighthouse
The modest and quaint Pathos lighthouse provides a pleasant diversion from the more historic sites that Cyprus has to offer. The Pathos lighthouse is located at Pathos Harbour and affords an excellent view of the surrounding area to anyone who is willing to climb the lighthouse's several flights of stairs.
4. Tomb of the Kings
The Tomb of the Kings is easily one of the most stirring sites to visit in Cyprus. Located just outside of the Pathos Harbour, the Tomb of the Kings consists of a series of underground tombs that were carved into solid bedrock. While no true kings or emperors were buried here, the tombs were used as the final resting place for a variety of aristocrats and Roman power brokers.
5. Beaches of Cyprus
In addition to the palpable sense of history that is so present on Cyprus, it is also important to take time to simply relax and enjoy the many beautiful beaches of Cyprus. The beaches of Cyprus receive sun throughout the year and provide the ideal opportunity to take in the fresh sea air while participating in any number of beach activities.
Visitors who are travelling on a limited budget can often save a considerable amount of money on airfares and accommodation by taking advantage of late deals to Cyprus. Airline companies and hotels often offer late deals to Cyprus when they are trying to fill seats and rooms at the last minute.

Package Holidays to the World
Package holidays to anywhere one is destined are the best approach to take, and there are, fortunately, many such packages available for booking. These can be found to suit the needs of nearly any type of trip, and the destinations that are offered are some of the most exotic, relaxing, and enjoyable spots that the world has to offer. Weekends in Cyprus, a visit to the ancient mysteries of India, or a chance to kick up one’s heels on the streets of New York are within one’s grasp, and all for some surprisingly reasonable rates.
Holiday packages generally offer transportation to and from a destination, plus accommodations. The savings that can be had just on these aspects of a trip will be worth the effort to book a package. In fact, it often seems that transport is a gratuity, when considering the accommodations and other bonuses that are part of the deal. For example, holiday packages to Thailand can include seven nights in a fabulous resort on a bed and breakfast basis at around ?100 per night, per person. This price includes airfare to and from this exotic locale. What an incredibly affordable way to treat oneself to a sun-filled, luxurious week in a tropical paradise.
Ski holidays are very popular, and holiday packages to some of the best skiing locations in the world are available to those who do some research. Les Orres ski resort in France offers some of the best slopes imaginable, and one can book residence in a quaint two bedroom chalet for six days and seven nights for less than ?200 per person. This is the all-inclusive package, which provides a ski pass, equipment rental, and skier insurance along with fine accommodations. Imagine a full week of skiing and relaxing in a warm, comfortable environment at those prices.
Mexico is another popular holiday destination, which accounts for the record number of tourists that visit each year. The beaches of Cancun are one of the most-often visited areas in Mexico, and holiday packages to this sun-baked shoreline are quite affordable. Consider this: 14 nights in a deluxe resort; all meals, snacks, and beverages thrown in; scuba lessons and other aquatic activities free of charge (complete with butler service); daily programmes for the kids; and a weekly cocktail party, compliments of the hotel. All for just over ?400 per week, per person. This price includes all taxes and gratuities, by the way, along with chartered air service to and from the location. Quite a deal by anyone’s standards.

Property Abroad - What's in it for Me?
The property market here in the UK as everyone knows has been spiralling out of control over the past 3-5 years and many first time buyers are finding it increasingly difficult to get a foot hold on the market. Many buyers have been reduced to sharing with friends in order to even buy a property whilst others remain at home with good old mam and dad.
So then - the overseas property market - what's in it for me question. Well once we've taken care of the obvious questions like:
What can you afford?
Are you looking for long or short term investment?
Are you considering using the property abroad for your own benefit?
Have you considered buy to let, guaranteed rental or leaseback schemes?
What level of deposit do you have?
and many others
we can get down to the nitty gritty of whats really out there for the young property buyer. What can you afford? Buying a property overseas can often work out costing more in fees than here in the UK with average costing coming in between 10-12% of the purchase price. This will include things like notaries, solicitors, land registry fees, taxes etc - so be prepared.
Depending on where you are thinking of buying can determine whether or not you can get a mortgage. You need to consider the mortgage rates, the likes of Spain has a low interest rate compared to England yet Cyprus is running ahead of the UK interest rates at about 6.2% so it pays to consider this especially when you are looking at a long term loan.
Are you looking for long or short term investment? Are you hoping to jump in and back out fairly quickly to create a profit that you can then sink into a UK property or are you interested in long term investment? Consider the benefits and pitfalls of both. If you pull out on a short term investment and then the overseas market erupts you'll be kicking yourself. Then again if the UK market rises in toll with the overseas (not impossible so bare it in mind) you may be still as far away as when you started.
Are you considering using the property abroad for your own benefit? If you are wanting to use the property for your own benefit as well as investment purposes then you need to take into account things like: How easy is it for you to get to your property (cheap flights etc)? Will you be using the property during peak months which could potentially cost you money?
Have you considered buy to let, guaranteed rental or leaseback schemes? There are many schemes out there to help improve your investment like buy to let, guaranteed rental and leaseback all of which offer some piece of mind when buying property for investment purposes.
Buy to let - this is where a buyer buys a property with the intention of letting it out on a commercial basis. There are usually mortgages specific to this type of purchase known as Buy to Let mortgages.
Guaranteed Rental - is normally defined as a specified rental amount guaranteed for a particular period of time on a particular property or development. This is normally guaranteed by the developer. One thing to consider is where the guaranteed rental is coming from. Is it actual rentals ie someone living in your property or an overpriced property that has the rental amounts built into your price?
Leaseback Property - a popular way of renting your property out especially in France where it has been popular for over 40 years. Basically you buy a property (if brand new you can claim the vat back) and lease it back to a property management company who guarantee to give you a % return on your property for periods of upto 15 years. Typical yields can be anything upto 6.5% and more.
What level of deposit do you have? The level of deposit you have can have a great impact on what mortgage facilities are available to you as well as any additional discounts etc. Obviously the more deposit that you have available means that you will be in a better position to take advantages of such incentives if they are on offer.
Once we have taken care of the above then its more or less down to where you are wanting to buy a property or home abroad. With over 50,000 properties for sale on our website in more than 46 countries abroad we are well placed to offer new and old buyers the best choice of overseas property for sale on the internet.
Wherever you are thinking of buying a property overseas whether it be the UK, Europe or indeed anywhere in the world you need to visit our website and see for yourself the sheer amount of information and guides that we have available for the overseas property buyers.

Choose the one that is reliable, runs a safe payment gateway, and offers cheap flights to any destination including budget friendly hotels.
Now that you have booked cheap flights to France and one of the choicest France hotels, do make a list of all the tourist attractions before you leave. The Key To Getting Cheap Flights to New Zealand
Thousands of people go down under every year to travel, educate themselves or work. But more and more people are visiting New Zealand as well, the home of the kiwi, Lord Of The Rings movies, the rugby team of All Blacks and a host of other things. Flight deals to New Zealand differ in price as per the duration of the stay and also the time of the year you wish to travel. Cheap flights NZ are usually to be found in the midwinter season.
This is the off-peak season. It occurs in June, July and September. You would have to pay more if you are aiming at spending Xmas there. When you search for cheap airfare to New Zealand, try to break the journey down in parts so that you will be able to save money. The destinations that are popular en-route are Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Singapore. Many people start their trip in Auckland, the North Island capital, then travel through the extensive national parks and then to the capital of the country. There are ferries from bays surrounding Wellington that take you down to Southern Island that has fjords and gleaming lakes.
Some firms will give you the chance to purchase "open jaw" fares that will let you fly into a city and then out of a different one. Such tickets are very popular with travelers who want to go cross country. You could find a cheap flight to a city in North Island like Auckland, work there and travel for a few months and then fly home at a discount from a city in South Island like Christchurch. You could get in touch with travel operators on the internet as they are known to have the best deals and packages for cheap flights to NZ. They will compare the rates of airline tickets of most of the carriers and find one for you that will be the cheapest.
Many low cost international carriers are coming up so, you are going to be spoilt for choice when it comes to cheap flights NZ. You will have to keep a track of the fares on the internet as cheap tickets are snapped up by people the moment they are disclosed. After all, no gain without pain, right?

A Day Trip To Cairo From Cyprus
I went to Egypt for one day by flying from Paphos to Cairo in August 2007 when on holiday in Cyprus. It took one hour to get there. I booked the trip with a travel agent in Paphos and it cost £200 Cyprus per person travelling with Louis Travel.
The air trip was a good flight and it included food (breakfast).
The day was packed with lots of things to do. We arrived at Cairo and was quickly transported to a coach, which took us to our first destination - Citadel of Saladin.
The coach drove through Heliopolis, an elite residential suburb of Cairo our professional guide pointed out places of interest and introduced us to the long history and rich culture of Egypt 'en route' to our first highlights, being a mosque called Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali. We spent some time here inside the mosque walking around it.
Our next stop was the Pyramids of Giza and the Mighty Sphinx. Our coach guide gave us lots of information, such as don't take your belongings when walking around. Take as less as possible, because you will be stopped along the way and asked to buy souvenirs. We walked around the pyramids and paid £1 cy to get inside the pyramid, which was indeed very squashy and tight when walking down steps. It is dark inside and during August the heat was unbearable. If you don't like being claustrophobic then don't bother going inside the pyramids. There is only a tomb down the bottom once inside. I did it just for the experience of knowing what it would feel like.
All around this area of the Pyramids was very dusty and hot, as it was August. I wanted to travel to Cairo at this time only because I had a friend visit me here in Cyprus and she wanted to go with me.
After this we went to a five star hotel called the Meridian hotel where we sat and had a four course lunch. The food was excellent. Some excellent Egyptian spreads were laid out for us.
Afterward, we visited the Papyrus Institute and shopping at oriental bazaar, where I bought an Egyptian 18 carat gold chain and pendant with my name written on it in Egyptian. I also bought an Egyptian painting scroll with my name written on it in Egyptian again.
Next, we visit the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities where our Guide Rep gave us a tour. We saw Tutankhamen and we visited the Mummy room. The Mummy room is not to be missed. The history and look of these Mummies are very unique.
The next trip was the Cruise on the Nile with folkloric presentation, belly dancing, cold sandwiches, cookies, coffee / tea and a complimentary glass of champagne. This was the best part of all, as we cruised down the Nile whilst eating and drinking watching the entertainment. After eating, we went out onto the deck and took some pictures of the Nile.
At the end, we went back to Cairo airport and travelled by air to Paphos. We had snacks on the plane which was included in our travel.
I would recommend going to Cairo for the day from Cyprus, as it is a busy trip with lots to do. If you are on holiday in Cyprus during the high season, then please keep in mind that the weather will be very hot. It is a popular trip with most tourists that visit Cyprus and it is quickly booked up, as flights for one day only leave Paphos on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The Beaches of Cyprus
Cyprus, nestling at the eastern end of the Mediterranean, has become a popular tourist resort in recent years. Blessed with extensive beaches and a warm climate, it's little surprise that so many are choosing Cyprus.
This little island seems to get more coverage in the media than many, partly due to the somewhat complicated political situation on the island. Since the 1970s the northern part of Cyprus has been under Turkish occupation, meaning that visiting that part of the island has been particularly complex.
It has, however, now become much easier to plan a trip to the island. This has been great news for holiday-makers, with the climate of Cyprus being ideally suited to those looking for summer sun.
Summers here are warm and dry, resulting in some very pleasant sea temperatures too. The Cypriot tourist board note that sea temperatures are so good that it is suitable to bathe in the sea at any time from May to October each year.
Such are the delights of Cyprus that it is little surprise that many choose the island for a beach holiday, taking advantage of the warm sea, fine beaches and excellent water sport facilities.
Visitors will find more than 400 miles of coastline, with almost 50 beaches having achieved Blue Flag status, which means that they have been noted as being clean and environmentally friendly.
A number of the beaches are located close to some of the island's larger towns and coastal resorts, ensuring that you shouldn't have a problem finding accommodation and entertainment.
Given all of the advantages that Cyprus has, both natural and man-made, it is obvious why this Mediterranean gem is so popular with visitors from Europe and further afield. The growth in tourism is likely to continue, but it is to be hoped that the popularity won't become so great that the Cypriot beaches become over-crowded.
Whatever the future holds for Cyprus, it is certain that the people of this island will continue to welcome visitors with the natural warmth that typifies the Cypriot people.

A Cyprus Villa in Limassol - Choose Your Location
A Cyprus Villa in Limassol is to be found in locations to suit individual tastes, a Cyprus geographical map shows the district covers around 15% of the island. It is dominated by the backdrop of the Troodos Mountains and apart from the town itself, the area is mainly mountainous. There is a 15km coastline where there are many hotels and apartment complexes and prestigious Cyprus property for sale. This area is a real hotspot since the signing of the contracts this year for a new 1,000 birth marina placed right in the heart of the city.
Another positive for a Cyprus villa in Limassol, which a Cyprus geographical map confirms is that it is right in the middle of the island's southern coastline, only a 45 minute drive from either of the airports in Larnaca and Paphos. You can also arrive by sea, either by your own boat to a marina or the port which is one of the Mediterranean's busiest for both commercial and cruise ships. All these options make for easy and varied access and an ideal place Cyprus property for sale.
A Cyprus villa in Limassol can be in the midst of the islands second largest city, busy as a commercial centre in its own right where the residents have the reputation of loving fun which is reflected in its cosmopolitan atmosphere. The nightlife is renowned and there are many tavernas and restaurants as well as nightclubs. There is also great shopping, which will hit another level when the new shopping mall is finished, it will be the islands largest - four times as big as the one in Nicosia! This is scheduled for completion in 2008.
That is the urban picture for a Cyprus villa in Limassol, the complete alternative is just a stones throw away. Head out of the city and into the mountains and there is a whole different world. The foothills have beautiful scenery, through vineyards and wine producing villages that still have sea views. Keep on going and there are numerous sleepy little villages to discover just off the main roads along rough tracks. A Cyprus geographical map will help to find these and also the dams which have been established to catch the waters (and snow in winter) running off the mountains, the largest is at Germasogeia, which is a popular fishing spot for trout and other species.
The two largest festivals of Cyprus take place in Limassol, the pre-Lent Carnival and the September Wine Festival. The ancient theatre at Kourion is often used for dramatic and musical productions and there are many other archaeological sites to be found. All the usual water sports are available along the coast as well as the mountain pursuits such as hiking, rambling, horse riding, cycling, angling, bird watching, botany and in the winter - skiing and snow boarding!
A Cyprus Villa in Limassol and Cyprus property for sale can be found in the place you feel happiest - urban or country, coastal or inland and the great thing is that both are really close to each other and of course the Cyprus weather means you can actually enjoy all the activities or just sit in the sun and watch!

Welcome to The White House
The US flag can almost always be seen waving up high at the White House, the primary workplace and official residence of the President of the US. An Irish named James Hoban was the designer of the edifice situated in Washington, D.C. As a Neoclassical architecture, the house was made up of Aquia sandstone painted in white. Since John Adams was in office, it has been the home of all US presidents. After Thomas Jefferson became the president in 1801, the house was lengthened outward with the help of Benjamin Henry Latrobe, an architect, constructing two rows of pillars that are intended to hide storage and stables.
In 1814, at some point in the War of 1812, the British Army put the house on fire in the Burning of Washington, wrecking the inside and burning greatly the outside. Renovation started almost right away and in October 1817, James Monroe transferred to the partly rebuilt home. Creation kept going and in 1824, South Portico was adjoined to the edifice and the North Portico in 1829. In 1901, Theodore Roosevelt had every workplace transferred into the freshly built West Wing due to the overcapacity in the executive house.
William Howard Taft extended the West Wing in 1909 and made the original Oval Office that was ultimately transferred when the area was widened. In 1927, the attic was changed into living quarters through enhancement of trendy roof with lengthy shed dormers. A freshly built East Wing was utilized as a receiving area for social functions. The changes in the East Wing were done in 1946.

Finding a Pocket-Friendly Apartment
If you like saving up on money, it takes more than just buying cheap apartments to live in. There are other things that will contribute to saving up with your decisions in choosing an apartment. Here are some things to consider when looking for apartments.
The first thing you can do is to decide on how many bedrooms you will need. See the number of family members you have and decide on the placing of each person to their respective rooms. Sticking to the basics will have you save much more than looking for apartments with many rooms which may not be all used in the end.
You should also consider the location your apartment is located at. While you may find cheap apartments further away from routine places like the office or school, it will defeat the purpose of saving up in the first place; you should also consider how much you will end up spending on transportation fee. Even if an apartment may be slightly costlier, staying in walking distance or one with easy access to shuttle buses will keep your expenditure low and help you save up on the long term.
Speaking of accessibility, look for those with a variety of facilities available, like supermarkets, clinics, and recreational places. The logic is that if these facilities are nearby, you will not need to spend on gas money to frequent these places; instead, you could walk over or take a cheap shuttle bus ride. It also makes it unnecessary to look for apartments with all sorts of facilities which price would be higher, when you can make a slight extra effort to enjoy the benefits of living near such facilities.
Although it is true that having facilities all around you would make your life easier, being too close to them would make the area a busy and populated place. Such places may be noisy, which may in turn affect your productivity to attain a good salary. Consider one that is balanced in peace and the accessibility to such facilities, then will you get a cheap apartment comfortable for everyone.

Booking a Spanish Package Holiday
There's no doubt that package holidays are still very popular and this seems to have remained the case despite the fact that so many people like to book holidays using the internet. Maybe you're not aware of what package holidays are all about. We'll begin by giving a brief overview of what they involve.
The easiest way to think of a package holiday is that you book with one tour operator and that the operator is then responsible for many of your normal travel requirements. That means that you'll typically expect them to sort out your flights, find you accommodation and also arrange any airport transfers that you require. This can take much of the stress out of the whole holiday booking process. Such thoughts may help to explain why package holidays are still so popular, although it is also the case that some people do worry that they may not have as much choice as they would like when it comes to various aspects of the trip.
If we look at the history of package holidays, it's obvious that they've been most popular for those looking to travel to Spain, the Greek islands and other top Mediterranean locations. But are we soon to see the end of package holidays? This seems unlikely, with so many people choosing them simply because they offer such great value for money.
Do you think about the hassle involved in having to book flights and then find accommodation separately? The great thing about a package holiday is that you can completely involve the stresses that are involved in making your travel arrangements in this way. A further advantage is the fact that you'll frequently find that you'll end up paying less and getting a better standard of accommodation when booking via a single travel operator.
If you're going to book a package holiday then you may be thinking that you won't need to look online. In fact, there are now a large number of internet travel companies looking to offer discount deals on package holiday bookings. So you can book your holiday to Spain for far less money than you were originally intending to spend. Better still, you may even be able to get a reduced price if you book online.
