France: XL Airways France is a French airline based at Charles de Gaulle International Airport, it is part of the XL Leisure Group. Formed as Star Airlines, the airline was previously owned by Transat AT, before being sold to and taken over by the XL Leisure Group. The carrier operates scheduled flights mainly to long-haul destinations in Africa and the Middle East and charter flights to medium-haul destinations in the Mediterranean, and it also serves destinations to the Caribbean. On 11 September 2008, BBC News Channel reported that XL Leisure Group had filed for administration, although initially Simon Calder confirmed the group's website was still taking bookings, the group folded the next morning. Nevertheless XL Airways Germany and XL Airways France, former subsidiaries of XL Leisure Group continue to operate as independent airlines. Germany: XL Airways Germany is a charter airline based in Mörfelden, Germany. It has a sister airline in France, XL Airways France. XL Airways Germany operates charter services and ad-hoc lease for other airlines
