Holidays In Barbados

Think luxury Caribbean holiday and Barbados surely springs to mind. Up until recently, as your aircraft landed at Grantley Adams International Airport, you could see that symbol of ultimate luxury parked on the runway: Concorde. Today, she's hidden away in a hangar but still a testament to the fact that British Airways felt that Barbados was the only other place in the world - apart from New York - which could sustain Concorde flying into the island twice a week.

As the ultimate, premier, warm weather holiday destination for tourists worldwide, Barbados boasts a repeat clientele of over 40 percent. Concorde may be long gone but Barbados has cemented its status as the luxury Caribbean island and it is constantly upgrading its amenities for its visitors. In terms of tourists, the Brits make up around 42% (or approximately 220,000 tourists) per year and is it any wonder that the Brits love Barbados? If you forget the fabulous weather for a moment and put aside the azure blue ocean and the odd tropical plant...you could be forgiven for thinking that you were driving around Surrey or the Cotswolds, with men in full cricket whites playing on village greens, pretty parish churches and red telephone boxes and post boxes dotted around the Barbados countryside. For many, this is the island's appeal: a quaint, old-fashioned Englishness making it seem almost like a home-from-home.

No guide to Barbados is complete without a mention of cricket. Over the years, Barbados has supplied some of the world's top cricketers, such as Sir Garry Sobers, Everton Weekes, Charlie Griffith, Clyde Walcott, Mitchell Hewitt and Wes Hall to name but a few. The island's cricketers left the island to join international teams and in some cases to captain them. With the International Cricket World Cup in 2007, the island is currently rebuilding its top cricket ground, the Kensington Oval.

IS BARBADOS JUST FOR THE JET SET?

Like anywhere in the world, if you choose to stay in the best properties and eat in the finest restaurants, you're going to find it pricey. However, Barbados has a huge variety of places to stay and eat and to suit all budgets and tastes. The island has a number of top end hotels mainly on the west coast of the island where you'll find a 24-mile ribbon of fine, sandy beaches and the calm Caribbean sea. The southern coast is more suitable for families with children and offers more affordable accommodation, restaurants, bars and clubs. The south of the island is undoubtedly the best for nightlife.

HOW FAR IS BARBADOS FROM THE UK?

Only 8.5 hours flight from the UK to Barbados - no further than Florida. Time difference is the same as the USA. Many airlines operate a daily service of cheap flights to Barbados from either Gatwick or Manchester with regional connections.

WHAT IS THERE TO DO IN BARBADOS?

If you've had your fill with sunbathing and sipping cool cocktails by the edge of the warm waters of the Caribbean.....then you could go on a submarine tour, hiking, horse-riding, quad-biking, mountain-biking, golfing or sail in a glass-bottom boat or visit Barbados Wildlife Reserve, Harrison's Cave or take an Island Safari or even go swimming with the turtles! For those who decide to shop, remember that Barbados is a duty-free island and you are likely to pick up some very good branded bargains! Children and grown-ups alike will love the Atlantis Submarine which dives to 55 feet where passengers can view a spectacular coral reef and an abundance of marine life. It then descends to depths of 115-150 feet to view a sunken shipwreck. This fascinating underwater journey is expertly narrated by the co-pilot.

WHERE TO EAT IN BARBADOS?

For a more formal affair, head to L'Acajou at the deluxe Sandy Lane Hotel which overlooks the beach and the sea and serves a mixture of fine French and Caribbean haute cuisine. Or try some typical Caribbean dishes at The Cliff which has been voted one of the top 50 restaurants in the world and is a regular celebrity haunt. For freshly caught fish, alligator or ostrich, try The Restaurant at Southsea which features in Conde Nast Traveller's Hot Tables List. Zen is one of the best Japanese/Thai restaurants in Barbados and is found at The Crane Hotel on the South Coast.

Best Mediterranean Beaches for Family Fun

If you are planning a family getaway to Europe and you love the beach, perhaps Mediterranean beaches are the best option for you. The Mediterranean Sea divides Europe from Africa and makes the boundary for over a dozen nations such as Greece, Italy, France, and Spain. Countries like Israel, Egypt, Morocco, and Cyprus are pretty popular with the tourists and showcase the Mediterranean's exotic beaches.

Nature lovers say that the Mediterranean is not just a place but in fact it is a state of mind. The mild climate in the Mediterranean and its hot dry summers makes for perfect beach weather. The deep blue waters are accentuated with the warm hospitality of the Mediterranean people who are well known as being passionate with a real zest for life.

The best time to visit the Mediterranean is between the fall and spring. If you are planning your holidays for August, be sure to make the arrangements way in advance. This is because the coastal towns are often full with vacationing Europeans during this time.

Italy, France and Corsica have some of the most beautiful beaches in this area. Cannes is one of the best-known cities of the French Riviera and is well-known for its sandy beaches which are animated all year round. You can expect to see people sunbathing and swimming right through the winter months. There are lots of private beach clubs where you can eat or rent a lounger for the day and at either end there are public beaches, and a municipal beach where you can rent deck chair and watch the world go by.

Corsica is an Island and is sophisticated, flashy, and perhaps among the best places in the Mediterranean for water sports. Corsica's 600 miles coastline comprises a number of secluded coves and deserted shores. St Restitude, located near Calvi north-west, is best for a peaceful hideaway. It has a secluded small beach with clean water, soft sand, and adorable pine woods in plenty. There is also Palombaggia Beach, Golfe di Sogno Beach, and Santa-Giulia Beach near the couth-east Porto-Vecchio, an upmarket resort town situated on a rocky hill. The town is very popular among the tourists for its beaches, cafes, restaurants, yacht marina, lively streets, and a wide range of accommodation. The best beach in this town is Palombaggia Beach, a perfect crescent of white sand that is sandwiched between the blue sea and dune clusters.

One of best beaches in Italy is Terracina, situated at 1.5 hours south-west of Rome towards Naples. The Terracina beach is among the best beaches on Italy's mainland and is very long, wide with plenty of soft sand to offer its visitors. Cap de Begur, situated nearly 40 mins from Girona offers plentiful Spanish culture both old and new together with a collection of beautiful small beaches such as Aiguablava, the nudist (families beware) L'Illa Roja, and the family-oriented Llanfranc and Platja de Raco.

The Real Reason You Should Visit Israel

OK, so there are many reasons why you should pop over for a visit to the Holy Land, especially at this time of the year (is that Santa's sleigh I can spot in the sky?), but the real reason is right here:

The weather

OK, nothing too spiritual or meaningful in that. But, for us Northern Hemispherers, especially for those of us from the cold climes of Northern Europe, the weather is a big issue. I mean, come on, where are you going to get December days sat on the beach, with the Mediteranean lapping at your feet? It's December 4th and the forecast for the next few days is for even higher temperatures...! I'm not sure how Santa hacks it down this way, especially wrapped up in that big red coat...

Trying to tell the locals that this is actually beautiful weather is also a no goer. The locals feel that, as it's December, it must be time to pull out their winter coats and scarves. Regardless of the weather. Yes, it might be 24 degrees C out there, but no way are they going to give up on their thick woolly coats.

OK, OK, so this beautiful weather does have a down side. It's called the months of July and August. These are the killer months, the months when the weather forecasters have a really strenuous task of telling us that "it will be hot tomorrow". The months when they regale us with the cooking an egg on the car bonnet stories year after year. And the months when living in the center of the country is a pure nightmare.

It's impossible to live without air conditioning during these two summer months. It's also impossible to live with a local during these 2 months, especially at night. Put the air conditioning on and you'll be in trouble...! Especially with a female other half, who will be shivering under her duvet while you drip buckets in your birthday suit...

But, seriously, the weather in the Holy Land is something that has kept me here much longer than I ever anticipated. You might just get seduced too...

One Way Car Rental

Ever dream of driving across country? Are you in a situation where you need to drive and drop your car in another area? A few years ago a friend of mine had a flight cancelled due to bad weather. He had to be home the next day or there would be serious consequences at work. He could not wait for the bad weather to clear and flights to resume. He had to purchase a one way car rental. Unfortunately, this did not come cheap. He had to rent the car in Florida and return it in Michigan. This lovely drive cost him nearly 300 dollars and that was nearly 10 years ago. The purpose of this article is to explain about 1 way car rentals and answer some of the most frequently asked questions regarding them.

Is it always more expensive for a 1 way car rental? No, especially if you're returning it within the same area. Most major car companies allow the car to be returned within the same city or country at no extra charge. Some may also extend the privilege within the same state. Ask around at the major companies and see what there policies are.

What if I want to hire a car in New York and return it in California?

This will cost you more. Car companies hate this because then they somehow have to get the car back to where it was originally. If you know this well in advance then the best thing to do is to call the car rental company as soon as possible. If they have sufficient notice then maybe it won't cost you so much. You're probably going to be limited to the major carriers. People usually do 1 way car rentals because they have no other choice. If there is time to plan it may help.

Why do one way car rentals cost more? Well as said previously. They have to figure out a way to get the car back to where it was previously. The further it has to go then generally the more costly it is. Also, companies are also afraid that there car is at a higher risk of being stolen in a 1 way car rental situation.

When doing a 1 way car rental, you should go through the major carriers. They have offices around the country so your chances of getting a better rate are good. Infect many of the smaller companies do not allow 1 way rentals. You should also plan in advance and inform the company as soon as you know your plans. Who knows, you may get lucky.

Get Yourself Upgraded and Valued Up! Insiders Guide to Online Hotel Bookings

Loyalty Programs: Many of the large hotel chains have both upgrade and value add incentives for simply signing up. Upon check-in, ask the guest service agent if the hotel brand offers a room upgrade or other such promotion for signing up. A few moments of your time filling out an application could lead you to a room on their Executive Floor, with complimentary free breakfast in the morning! You may even find the agent is more than willing to fill the form out for you (as they have most of the pertinent information from your registration, and, are typically rewarded for enrolling you.)

Call Ahead: As the saying goes; it costs nothing to ask! In large markets, such as Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto hotels typically find themselves in either undersold or oversold positions. Both of which work in your favor. If the hotel isn't very busy on the night your staying, they may choose to upgrade random guests into suites and/or executive type accommodations for the promotional value - you might as well call ahead to see if you can get on that list! If the hotel is oversold, management may choose to allocate guests into upgraded inventory ahead of time in order to open up standard capacity. You won't know if you don't call!

If you don't like what you see, speak-up! Here, in our backyard market of Toronto Hotels, the product range is vast. Hotel product goes through cycles of refurbishment. What was impressive five years ago is now ready for a renovation, and, that downtown Toronto Hotel that wasn't so pretty five years back is now all redone. Last thing you need after a long day at Toronto Pearson airport is to be underwhelmed by your accommodations. If you don't like what you see when you walk through the door - ask to speak to the Front Office Manager. More than likely they have a superior room type to offer you that will be much more impressive.

Book often! Book smart!

Cheap Hotel Deals

Obtaining cheap hotel deals are desirable to all travelers as they help save costs on travel accommodation which frees up expenditure for other aspects of their trip, be it for business or leisure. Thus it is important that you know where to look for the best deals available so that you can enjoy a stay at a decent hotel without burning a hole in your wallet. The Internet, especially, has provided many new sources of information about such deals that makes it easier to find a good deal online. However, you may be overwhelmed by the large amount of information available, which may make you more confused regarding where and how to start instead. Hence I have compiled a list of useful tips that you may follow to make sure that you are getting the best hotel deals possible.

1. Start your search online.

The Internet is the best place to start your search for cheap hotels, as there are many aggregate online travel sites which have links to numerous hotels around the world. These sites specialize in comparing rates between different hotels and websites, as well as provide all the information that you need to know about the hotels including the facilities, location and images. You can thus customize your search to only compare hotels with similar characteristics, such as being within the same area or with the same star rating, thus quickly and easily narrowing down your search.

These websites also usually offer the best rates that are lower than booking directly at a hotel's website. You should however read the fine print for additional charges or restrictions, such as your booking being non-refundable.

2. Look out for cheaper alternatives during peak travel periods.

In general, during the peak travel seasons which may include extended school vacation periods and long weekends, you may discover that rates of many hotels in your chosen destination, including the usually cheaper ones, are higher than usual. However, you will be surprise that certain websites offer attractive deals for hotels even during this busy period.

3. Consider the location of the hotel.

The location of the hotel is also an important consideration when looking for low hotel rates in your destination. Generally, try to find a hotel in areas such as the suburbs that is slightly less accessible or is located away from the city centre as it is usually cheaper than one that is in a more convenient location. You can also consider less-known independent local hotel chains which can provide cheaper accommodation too.

4. Keep an eye out for offers and discounts.

When booking through online booking portals, do look out for special promotions and deals for hotels, many of which run for a limited time only. Many of these deals can net you attractive discounts as long as if you fulfill a requirement for a minimum number of nights' stay, if there is any.

The Weeze Airport City Guide

The airport in Weeze, Germany is but a small one. Even so, it is a rather comfortable place to be, especially if you are coming from a far-off city to travel to this municipality. Airport Weeze is not as flashy as the Frankfurt International Airport. But travelling to this place could be a relatively good experience for you too.

Weeze is situated in the Lower Rhine region of Germany. It is a rather simple town with not more than 11 thousand residents. From the airport, one can travel around with a car, through the public transport, or via the train. The Kevelaer train is a mere 5-minute drive from the airport. You can take the shuttle bus to get there or hail a cab if you wish.

Airport Weeze is also referred to as the Niederrhein airport and it used to be an airbase before it went public. The runway was officially opened to the civilian's use in 2003. Right now, this airport is basically known for the many low-cost airlines operating within it.

Despite being small, Airport Weezer transports around 11 million air travellers per year. The parking area of the airport could accommodate as much as 1,000 vehicles. Car rental desks are easily available inside the airport too, just in case you would like to hire a car for the length of your stay.

The desks of car rental companies are conveniently placed in the arrivals area while the cars are easily accessible from the car park, which lies opposite the terminal building. Should you wish to get a car from the airport for travel to your hotel or to your actual destination, you only need to show a credit card, your passport, and driver's license. The car rental company may request other documents from you other than these three.

Going around Weezer is a lot more convenient in a hired car because you can easily check out the places of interest in the area. The traffic in this region is generally light, as traffic jams are quite rare in countryside roads.

Travel Tips From Trapani Airport, Sicily

Trapani, on the east coast of Sicily, is designed to make the heart beat a little faster. Like everything Italian, there is a fundamental sense of romance here, from the antiquated architecture to the breath-taking coastlines. Even the local cuisine, including rich, creamy pastries and exquisitely seasoned, seafood dishes, manage to evoke a sense of wonderment and of life being full embraced. For those who like to explore, there are monuments and archaeological sites galore and even a spattering of windmills dotted throughout the fertile countryside to browse. Traditional holiday makers can revel in the glorious beaches, superb shopping and swanky eateries that proliferate this Italian Shangri-La.

Situated 20km south west of the historic centre is Trapani-Birgi Airport, also known as Vincenzo Florio Airport after the Sicilian wine industrialist and automobile enthusiast. This is the main point of entry for people into this region and over half a million people pass through its gates each year. Flights to Trapani Airport from the UK go from Birmingham Airport and Luton Airport, and from Dublin Airport in Ireland, and are provided by the low cost airline Ryanair.

There are several different options for onward travel but by far the most popular is Trapani Airport car hire. The four main Trapani car hire firms based at the airport are Avis, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt. All have their own specific deals and makes of car on offer. For example Avis offer the luxurious Aston Martin within their Prestigious range, while Europcar really take luxury one step further by offering a chauffeur-driven service. Items such as insurance and petrol charges may not be included in the quoted price so it is wise to check when making the booking.

There is a distinct advantage to having your own transport in this region as there are so many places to visit. Most are easily accessible within an hour of Trapani, including the wonderful Zingaro nature reserve, the unmissable beach of San Vito Lo Capo and the bustling city of Marsala, home to the sumptuous and flavorsome fortified wine of the same name. It is even possible to explore the whole island given enough time, the right spirit and a map of Sicily.

As always, the ubiquitous taxis are on hand to ferry people to their accommodation and are based outside Trapani Airport Arrivals. They have a journey time of around 20 minutes into the city centre and cost approximately EUR30. Alternatively there is always the option to pre-book a Trapani Airport transfer or a seat on a Trapani Shuttle Bus. This has a tendency to set the holiday off on the right foot because a driver is sent to collect passengers as they come through arrivals and swoosh them straight off to a waiting vehicle, without the need for scrambling around or queueing in the heat. While there is no train station here, the Trapani buses run from the airport to the main one in town, as well to other destinations further afield such as Agrigento, Marsala and Palermo.

One of the main attractions to this part of Italy is the Sicily weather. Not only does the weather in Trapani afford long, hot summers with temperatures averaging 26ºC in peak season, but the brief and mild winters mean that the area can be enjoyed all year long. Whether reclining by the pool at one of the many fabulous Trapani hotels or delving head first into the abundance of things to do in Trapani, this joyful region of Sicily is a paradise waiting to be discovered.

Cyprus Road Maps Are Vital For Exploring

Many visitors to Cyprus come to the island and spend all their whole holiday in their hotels relaxing and getting a fabulous sun-tan, which with the Cyprus weather is guaranteed! Whist this is the perfect destination for this - it is a shame to come all this way and not grab some Cyprus road maps and explore the island and maybe even check out Cyprus property for sale and have your own place in the sun.

Holiday car hire in Cyprus is readily available and easy to organize, you do have to be over 25 in most cases and have your driving license and you are sorted. There are many companies offering holiday car hire so it can pay to look around to get the best deal. Most of the vehicles will have a tourist map of your area in the paperwork, but it if you intend to really explore it makes sense to buy one of the Cyprus road maps that are available in most general stores. The Cyprus Tourist Office (CTO) also has many brochures and maps available free of charge, just pop in and collect all you need.

The Cyprus road maps show you that as the island is really quite small, the network of highways is very good and links all the major towns, then you can branch out from there to wander around at your leisure. If you prefer to have your trips mapped out for you there are many guide books that give you suggested routes that will take you to spots you might otherwise miss. It is easy to spot a holiday car hire in Cyprus as the vehicles have red number plates beginning with Z and are therefore known locally as Z plates.

Cyprus road maps will also show you the North of the island, but before you make a trip there check with your holiday car hire in Cyprus that you are allowed to take the vehicle across, as many don't allow it. Turkish car insurance has to be bought by everyone crossing over the Green Line, but this may not be valid for cars that are rented so do check first.

Cyprus property for sale is very popular on the island especially to UK citizens due to the feeling of familiarity; most Cypriots speak English, driving is on the left and all the road signs are the same as the British and are in Greek and English, the legal and banking systems are both based on their British counterparts and satellite television means that all your favourite shows are available! Also on Cyprus road maps are marked the Sovereign Bases where British Forces are based, this means that BFBS radios 1 and 2 are available and if you are near the bases you can sometimes pick up their television station as well. Added to all that there is the fantastic climate of long hot summers and mild winters, whist still having snow on the Troodos mountains - if you miss the cold!!

How To Lose Weight Fast | Best Way To Burn Fat

www.GuideForYouSmartOnly.com ----How to purchase Cheap Air travel Tickets Look for limited-time promotional fares from main airlines and air travel companies just starting up. Be versatile in scheduling your flight. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays are usually the least expensive days to fly; late-night flights ('red-eyes'), really early morning flights and flights with a minimum of a single stop often be discounted too. Your Alicante Flights and What to Expect at the Airport

Alicante airport is one of those international airports which are growing instead of declining. It is a very modern facility with plenty of amenities and services for you to take advantage of. So, you might think why you would stay in this airport unless you were waiting for your Alicante flight. After spending three hours on a plane to get from the UK to the Costa Blanca I always like to stretch my legs at the airport before I continue with my journey to my final destination. It's important to have something to do at the airport, a place to get a bite to eat, pick up a couple of newspapers, or just chat to some of the people that are coming in from Europe.

You've Arrived at the Airport, Now What?

Most European flights don't take that long to get to Alicante. For instance, if you are flying from Shannon airport in the west of Ireland, the flight time is normally about three hours. This type of the journey is normally uneventful. If you experience any problems while on the flight these can normally be dealt with by multilingual staff. And, this is going to be the same when you land at the airport. If you don't speak Spanish, you will always find somebody who can speak English. So, if you have lost your luggage, or if your luggage has been damaged, there is a lost property desk at the airport where you can get this particular issue solved.

Your Check in and Departure

El Altet is not a very big airport and check-in counters can be found just in one location. There are a number of local and national airlines taking passengers at Alicante airport. Because there is limited number of check-in counters, passengers are always asked to check-in early, especially during the summer rush.

If you are being driven to the airport by a relative or friend, there is a pickup or drop-off point just outside the arrivals area. You are allowed to stay here for approximately 10 minutes and so you do not have to pay for parking. Do not leave your car unattended in this area because you run the risk of having your car towed or being clamped.

Passenger Pickup and Parking

However, if you are going to be picked-up upon arrival, your driver may not need to go to the usual parking space. At the arrival area, there is a perfect meeting point - situated right after you come out of the airport arrivals area. For longer periods of waiting, there is ample parking provision at the airport. The parking tickets can be classified short or long term.

Onward Transportation

Once you land at the airport, transportation to your final destination is not going to be a problem. The different modes of transportation that are available to you are airport taxi, airport bus, and of course Alicante car hire. Cars can be arranged before you arrive at the airport by looking on the Internet and there are several different car hire companies for you to choose from. The bus that will take you to Alicante city is at bus stop number 30. The bus fare is reasonably cheap at around three euros. Obviously the airport taxi will take you to whatever destination you require and the price depends on the duration of the drive, the number of passengers, and the amount of baggage.

Finding your way around this part of Spain should be no problem at all. Any few words of Spanish are going to help you a lot because you will find that the Spaniards are very hospitable.

Health Issues Regarding Traveling

Air travel is a big challenge for a lot of people due to the health issues that can be associated with it. Issues of handicaps, ailments and the attitudes of your fellow travelers can impact your experience.

* People who suffer from respiratory ailments, such as asthma or bronchitis may experience an exacerbation of symptoms from a pressured airline cabin. Contact your physician prior to your trip to ascertain if additional medication or oxygen use may alleviate your distress. If you will be bringing an oxygen tank onboard, you will need to notify the airline in advance.

* Often migraine sufferers and people prone to inner ear problems will find that long flights can bring on a painful episode. Having your medication available in your carryon baggage is advisable. If you currently have a cold or the flu, consider an OTC antihistamine or decongestant, as long as approved by your physician, to help relieve "stuffy" symptoms.

* Long flights, crossing many time zones, often causes cases of jet lag. Ensure you are well rested prior to your flight and try to relax or sleep while on the plane.

* It is important to walk and stretch prior to boarding and after disembarking the aircraft. This helps circulation and can help avoid blood clots from developing in your extremities. For very long flights, get up and walk through the cabin when permitted. While seated in the cabin, flex your toes and stretch your calves, roll your shoulders and rotate your neck.

* Pressurization of the airplane can cause dehydration. Dehydration can add to symptoms of jet lag, so hydrate with juices and water, avoiding alcohol and caffeine.

* Pump up your immune system with anti-oxidants and eat healthy foods prior, during and after your travel. Do not overeat as this will make you feel sluggish and tired.

* Bring a face mask if you have an immune deficiency or if you have an illness that might be contagious. You don't want to catch someone's virus, nor do you want to share your cold with the other passengers.

* If you suffer from anxiety or have a phobia about flying, refer to your medical provider for medication to calm you or assist you in sleeping during long flights. You may consider an OTC sleep aid even if you are not an anxiety sufferer, just so you rest during lengthy flights.

These are only a few of the possible health issues that can be aggravated by extensive travel. Some people don't worry about these issues because they are often not affected or get relaxed in self catered apartments. But for those who experience some of these issues, flying can be a traumatic experience. Even healthy travelers often suffer some discomfort when traveling by air. Therefore, to feel your best and avoid serious jet lag, it is imperative to follow these precautions.

While there are many health issues involved with airline travel, you needn't make yourself sick with worry. With the right information and simple precautionary measures, you can attempt to alleviate serious problems. By following these measures you can assure yourself a comfortable and relaxing flight.
